CUNEF Universidad hosts the closing ceremony of the Mentoring WIB Program
8 May 2026
The Aula Magna at the Almansa Campus was chosen as the venue for the closing event of the Women in Banking Association Mentoring Program, an initiative aimed at developing the skills and abilities of CUNEF Universidad’s mentees by promoting and enhancing their talent through the guidance, encouragement, and inspiration provided by WIB mentors.
The Mentoring WIB Program is created and developed by the Women in Banking Association (WIB), an initiative promoted by several women’s networks within the Spanish banking sector to raise awareness about the importance of female representation in banking leadership positions. WIB is supported by professionals from 20 financial institutions and the Spanish Banking Association (AEB).
The closing event of the Mentoring WIB Program at CUNEF Universidad brought together the 35 students participating in the program, as well as those interested in joining the next edition. The event featured the participation of Penélope Gil, Head of the WIB Mentoring Team; Carmen Rizo Medina, Head of Social Action at AEB; Alex Azorí, member of the Mentoring Team and WIB Secretary; several mentors from the program; Mª Victoria López López, Director of the CUNEF Universidad’s School of Engineering; and José Mª Cuervo-Arango, Leadership Development Practice Lead at LHH.
Throughout the event, attendees enjoyed speeches delivered by representatives from WIB, AEB, and CUNEF Universidad, as well as a roundtable discussion moderated by José Mª Cuervo-Arango on the role of mentoring, featuring mentors and mentees who shared their experiences. The session also included a cross-question discussion and concluded with a networking session accompanied by a cocktail reception in the Almansa Campus cafeteria.
Both mentees and mentors highlighted the importance of programs of this nature for exchanging experiences, helping students gain a broader and more comprehensive understanding of the sector, as well as greater professional clarity and direction.
