27 September 2022

Last Saturday, 24 September, CUNEF hosted, for the 5th year in a row, the Madrid Political Economy Workshop (MAPE). This annual conference, organised by Professors Agustín Casas and Antoni-Italo de Moragas, members of the CUNEF Economics Department, focuses on the discussion of the most recent advances in the economic study of political events.

Especially noteworthy were the presentations delivered by Garance Genicot (Georgetown University) and Shanker Satyanath (New York University). Professor Genicot outlined the importance of abstention in the design of polling stations in the United States, while Professor Satyanath showcased the importance of history to understand labour relations in Italy today.

Participants enthusiastically applauded CUNEF’s ongoing efforts to consolidate Madrid as a benchmark in Political Economy, and they are already looking forward to returning to CUNEF for the 2023 edition.
