Face-to-face session of the Banking Lab

7 June 2022

The current macroeconomic environment is weighed down by the great levels of uncertainty arising from various factors: the end of the severe phase of the pandemic, tensions in the supply chain and rising inflation. Likewise, the war in Ukraine is having a significant impact on the Spanish, European and global economy.

Against this backdrop, a face-to-face session of the Banking Lab is scheduled for this coming Tuesday, 7 June. Please see the PROGRAMME below.

The purpose of this session will be to analyse macroeconomic projections—growth, inflation and employment—and the economic policy measures that must be taken to combat inflation, including interest rate hikes by central banks, with potential consequences for the economy and the financial sector. The challenges that the Spanish economy and financial institutions must face as a consequence of this complex situation will also be discussed.

Alicia Garcia Herrero, Chief Economist for Asia Pacific at Natixis, Rafael Doménech, Head of Economic Analysis at BBVA Research and Professor of the Fundamentals of Economic Analysis at the University of Valencia, and Raymond Torres, Director of Analysis of the Economic Situation at Funcas will participate in the round-table discussion, moderated by Juan Carlos Delrieu, Director of Strategy and Sustainability of the Spanish Banking Association.
