Students from the Minor in Artificial Intelligence develop smart vests equipped with sensors

The Minor in Artificial Intelligence, taught at CUNEF Universidad’s School of Engineering, has concluded its classes for this academic year, consolidating itself as a complementary specialization designed to bring Artificial Intelligence closer to students from all bachelor’s programs.

Throughout the program, students worked with applications and intelligent systems capable of addressing real-world challenges across different fields, with a focus on innovation and the development of a sustainable digital society.

During the specialization, students acquired knowledge in diverse areas such as smart cities, the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, intelligent sensor networks, and smart application programming.

Hands-on learning

During the 2025/2026 academic year, students in the Minor in Artificial Intelligence took part in the development of smart sensor-equipped vests, a project that reflects the program’s hands-on approach and its ability to connect technology with practical real-world solutions.

The course was taught by Professor Alejandro Paredero. Over the course of 14 weeks, students focused particularly on LCD displays and servomotors, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, and, finally, the design and assembly of smart sensor-equipped vests. These devices incorporate different types of sensors to support people with disabilities — including visual and hearing impairments — in their daily lives.

This training allows students to strengthen their academic background with increasingly in-demand technological skills and further prepare themselves for a constantly evolving professional environment.
