CUNEF Universidad’s School of Engineering’s 3D Printing Contest fuels creativity
17 March 2026
The School of Engineering at CUNEF Universidad recently held the awards ceremony for the 1st edition of the 3D Printing Contest, featured in the programme for this year’s Mathematics Week. This academic competition, which rewards creativity, mathematical rigor, and research and prototype quality, challenges students to use their mathematical and programming skills to create innovative and functional three-dimensional models.
Each team presented a 3D-printed prototype, along with a technical report including a project description, the mathematical or algorithmic rationale, the design source files and a short video of the printing process.
The panel valued mathematical or algorithmic rigour, design creativity and originality, and document and project quality and presentation which, in the case of the finalist teams, included an oral presentation.
