CUNEF Universidad’s students present innovative tech projects at Madrid is Science
22 March 2026
Faculty and students of CUNEF Universidad’s School of Engineering participated in the 15th edition of Madrid is Science, an annual fair organised by madri+d Foundation for Knowledge and promoted by the Regional Ministry of Education, Science and Universities of the Community of Madrid. This year’s edition, held at La Nave de Villaverde, further consolidates the event as a leading space for scientific and technological dissemination.
During the fair, CUNEF Universidad’s School of Engineering presented various healthcare-focused sensor network prototypes that attendees were allowed to test first-hand.
Human-centred technological innovation
The School presented the following projects:
- Sensor vest: Enhances daily autonomy for people with visual or hearing impairments. Project coordinated by Professor Alejandro Paredero.
- Sensor-equipped chair: Monitors real-time movement to infer emotional states, such as nervousness or composure. Coordinated by Professors Pavél Llamoca and Joe Carrión.
- “Picker” game: Interactive fruit-picking game that analyses gameplay patterns to estimate player impulsivity, anxiety, and motivation. Project led by Professor Diego Riofrío.
The professors presented these projects along with a team of students who cooperated in the assembly, exhibition and explanation of the prototypes to attendees.
The projects are a result of the research carried out by the faculty of CUNEF Universidad’s School of Engineering, which focuses on advancing quality of life and scientific knowledge through innovative technology.
A fair that inspires vocations and empowers us to build the future together
Madrid is Science includes over 700 interactive activities and brings together a wide range of students, instructors and scientific and technological institutions. Its purpose is to connect citizens with scientific innovation, encourage a stronger interest in STEM disciplines, foster analytical thinking and promote creativity and entrepreneurship while providing a space for shared learning.
This event strengthens the bonds between schools, universities, research groups and businesses, evidencing the vitality of a collaborative ecosystem that contributes to consolidating the Community of Madrid as a forward-looking hub for innovation, knowledge and talent with social impact.
