Workshops and conferences

CUNEF Universidad’s research initiatives also include the participation of our researchers in international congresses, conferences and forums related to their fields. Additionally, the University regularly organises other activities designed to promote the discussion and exchange of ideas between peers, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and creating options for joint research projects with other universities.

Madrid Political Economy Workshop (MAPE)

Launched in 2018, MAPE is the annual meeting place for leading international experts in political economy. This workshop, organised by CUNEF Universidad professors, has become a benchmark in political economy in Spain and Europe. Its dynamic and collaborative format fosters the exchange of ideas and promotes rigorous academic discussions.


Workshop on Current Topics in Corporate Finance

This workshop focuses on relevant research topics in the field of corporate finance, such as ESG approaches, pay inequalities, technological improvements or green finance, among others. It is jointly organised by professors from CUNEF Universidad, ECSP Business School and Toulouse Business School (TBS).

Madrid Public Economics Workshop (MadPub)

This annual workshop brings together leading experts in public economics to discuss cutting-edge research in this field. Speakers from the universities of Michigan, UC Santa Barbara, London School of Economics, Oxford, UCL, Warwick, Paris School of Economics, Queen Mary and the Norwegian School of Economics, among others, have participated in previous editions. MadPub is organised jointly by professors from CUNEF Universidad, Imperial College London and Universitat de Barcelona.

CodeChella Madrid

CodeChella Madrid is organised by CUNEF Universidad in cooperation with Mixtape Sessions. This intensive workshop focuses on advanced methods of causal inference using difference-in-differences. Unique in Europe, it brings together more than 100 international researchers and experts every year. The seminars, which combine theory, practice and coding sessions, have been designed to enable participants to learn and delve into applied statistical techniques.

International Conference on Sobolev Inequalities and Related Topics

This conference brings together renowned experts and high-potential emerging researchers specialising in Sobolev Inequalities. Specifically, it features lectures and interactive sessions that address issues at the intersection between partial differential equations, variational calculus, and functional inequalities.

 

FMA Consortium on Asset Management 2026

FMA Consortium on Asset Management

The 2026 FMA Consortium on Asset Management is a high-quality workshop which featured six cutting-edge papers that cover the full breadth of modern asset management: from convertible bonds bridging credit and equity markets, to the democratization of illiquid assets through interval funds, conflicts of interest among pension fund CIOs, the mechanics of Robinhood's forced liquidations, the role of AI in active portfolio management, and the US Treasury's shadow duration exposure.

The event also featured a keynote lecture by Professor Christian Julliard (London School of Economics and Political Science - LSE), about the term structure of risk premia, a compelling case for why macroeconomic fundamentals are back at the center of asset pricing, and also the presence of faculty and researchers from leading institutions, including Notre Dame, NYU Stern, LSE, BI Norwegian, ITAM, UNC Chapel Hill, and CUNEF Universidad, among others.

The co-chairs were Pedro Saffi (CUNEF Universidad), Mark Hutchinson (UCC), Oğuzhan Karakaş (Cambridge Judge), and Mark Mulcahy (UCC), and FMACUNEF Universidad and the Cambridge Endowment for Research in Finance as sponsors.

Recent Trends in Mathematical Fluid Dynamics

The workshop Recent Trends in Mathematical Fluid Dynamics brought together nearly 60 researchers, leading experts, and early-career academics in 2025 to discuss the latest advances in the rigorous analysis of fluid dynamics models, as well as to present new techniques and open problems in the field, fostering exchange among researchers at different stages of their academic careers.

To this end, the workshop featured lectures and academic paper presentations, as well as the participation of researchers from international institutions such as Princeton University, New York University, Brown University, and Westlake University, among others.

The workshop was organized by Óscar Domínguez Bonilla, professor in the Department of Mathematics at CUNEF Universidad, together with Diego Córdoba and Fan Zheng, researchers at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences (ICMAT).
