The 2nd SPANDE Conference on Impact Evaluation at CUNEF Universidad

5 June 2026

On June 1 and 2, CUNEF Universidad hosted the 2nd SPANDE Conference on Impact Evaluation at its Almansa Campus. The event was organized by the Spanish Network of Development Economists (SPANDE) in collaboration with J-PAL Europe. The event brought together researchers, professionals, and representatives of social organizations with the aim of strengthening collaboration between the academic community and the nonprofit sector regarding the design and development of impact evaluations.

The first day, led by J-PAL Europe, focused on practical training in impact evaluation methodologies. Throughout the various sessions, key issues were addressed, including the theory of change and its relationship to the different stages of impact evaluation, the measurement of outcomes, data collection and monitoring, as well as the design of randomization processes and the analysis of case studies. The workshop also delved into the main methodological decisions associated with randomized evaluations, focusing on both their strengths and their limitations.

Opportunities for Collaboration

The second day focused on presenting projects and fostering new opportunities for collaboration among researchers and participating organizations. The program included panel discussions with SPANDE researchers, featuring a practical approach to evaluation design, funding, and collaboration with researchers, as well as group work sessions and a final roundtable where attendees shared progress, approaches, and insights that emerged during the event.

By hosting this conference, CUNEF Universidad reinforces its commitment to generating applied knowledge and fostering spaces for dialogue between universities, research, and society, promoting initiatives that contribute to more rigorous, evidence-based decision-making.
