CUNEF Universidad announces the winners of the Mathematics League Final

14 April 2026

CUNEF Universidad wishes to extend its heartfelt congratulations to the winning team of this year’s Mathematics League, made up of students of the Bachelor in Mathematics and of Double Bachelors with Physics and Computer Engineering at the University of Valladolid.

The event, promoted by ANEM, the Spanish Association of Mathematics Students, brought together more than 40 students from different Spanish universities to compete at CUNEF Universidad. From 9 to 11 April, the four competing teams participated in two "matches" per team. The format of the academic competition was designed to reward mental speed, group strategy and the ability to come up with original ideas to solve mathematical problems.

The programme also featured a range of activities designed to awaken participants’ interest in different areas of mathematics and complement their education.

The winners

The winning team of the 3rd edition of the Mathematics League was DerUVada, with students Diego de la Fuente (team representative), Esteban Perdices, Alejandro Marchena, Juan de Frutos, Nicolás Uzquiza, Sergio Álvarez and Daniel Gutiérrez, all of whom have extensive experience in such mathematical competitions.

Students from CUNEF Universidad’s School of Engineering, including José María de Troya León and Elena Ortega Martínez (5th and 4th year, respectively, of the Double Bachelor in Economics and Mathematical Engineering), collaborated with ANEM in the local organisation of this edition.

CUNEF Universidad commends the effort and dedication of this year’s participants, while emphasising how such initiatives serve to nurture mathematical talent, promote logical and structured reasoning and strengthen the ties between universities.
