Claudia Hupkau holds a PhD in Economics from the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium. Before joining CUNEF as an Assistant Professor, she was a Research Coordinator at the Centre for Vocational Education Research (CVER) in the London School of Economics (LSE), where she also worked as a researcher at the Centre for Economic Performance. Her research focuses on the economics of education, mainly on understanding the determinants of successful school and college outcomes in disadvantaged students. She also studies the impact of having children on women's labour market trajectories, to better understand the continuing gender gap in wages and roles. During her doctoral studies, Claudia worked at the London-based think tank Social Market Foundation, where she researched inequality, education and poverty.
