CUNEF Universidad launches two PhD programmes

CUNEF Universidad is rolling out two PhD programmes, set to begin in the 2026–2027 academic year: the Doctoral Programme in Economics and Finance and the Doctoral Programme in Computational Mathematics and Data Science. Each programme offers five places for new students alongside a call for four pre-doctoral research fellowships.

Both programmes boast a faculty with extensive experience and international research standing. They offer an environment with strong international appeal, alongside pioneering lines of research across various fields. Furthermore, they provide an intellectually active and stimulating atmosphere that fosters critical thinking, cooperation, and collaborative research, promoting international exchanges with leading universities and research institutions.

Doctoral Programme in Economics and Finance

This programme provides advanced specialisation in Economics, Finance, Business, and Law to prepare students for academic or professional careers in institutions that require advanced financial or economic expertise. These include central banks, research departments within public and private entities, and other organisations. The programme seeks to advance cutting-edge economic, business, and social research, while contributing to the analysis of key economic issues. It is structured around four main research lines: Economics, Finance, Business, and Law.

Doctoral Programme in Computational Mathematics and Data Science

Using a multidisciplinary approach, this programme develops mathematical, computational, and artificial intelligence methods and processes to tackle complex problems that require handling vast volumes of data and transforming them into actionable insights for decision-making. It addresses the need to shape versatile researchers with a solid foundation in mathematics and statistics alongside engineering skills, equipped to gather, process, model, organise, store, distribute, manage, visualise, and analyse massive amounts of data within multidisciplinary teams. The programme is structured around two main research lines: Computational Mathematics and Data Science.

Four pre-doctoral research fellowships

For the 2026–2027 academic year, CUNEF Universidad is also opening a call for applications to award four pre-doctoral research fellowships. These positions have a maximum duration of four years and are awarded and renewed each academic year under the terms of the university’s general scholarship programme and based on academic excellence. Interested candidates must apply for these fellowships when they submit their application for admission to the PhD programme.
