CUNEF Universidad LexChallenge 2026, the Business Law competition, is afoot
12 February 2026
Last Thursday, 12 February, CUNEF Universidad presented the 2nd edition of LexChallenge, an internal academic competition where students face a realistic and challenging business law case. In this edition, the case proposed by LexChallenge is “InnovAgro vs. AgroTech Solutions”, on international sales and business financing contracts. During the introductory session, professors Andrés Betancor and Elia Cerrato highlighted the competencies that students develop during this type of competition, especially comprehensive legal skills, strategic thinking, precise legal verbal and written skills, and teamwork and decision-making skills, all key to their education as future lawyers.
Students can register for CUNEF Universidad LexChallenge 2026 until 20 February, in teams with 2 to 4 participants who can be in different years and Law degrees. The academic competition will consist of two phases:
- Written phase, until 8 March: the teams will draft a statement of claim or of defence, depending on whether they have been assigned the role of plaintiff or defendant by the LexChallenge organisation.
- Oral phase, on 19 March: the teams will defend their arguments before an expert panel made up of practicing lawyers and recognised legal experts.
- Students who complete both phases will receive a small token for their participation, and there will be prizes for first and second place.
Participation in the Vis Moot in Vienna
In this same spirit, CUNEF Universidad also supports student participation in international academic competitions. A group of seven students will travel to Vienna to participate in the oral phase of the 33rd edition of the Willem C. Vis Moot, which fosters study in the field of international commercial law and arbitration, providing practical training for international business dispute resolution. The tribunals that judge the written and oral phases of this competition are made up of expert lawyers and legal professionals specialising in common and civil law.
