Austen Parrish, Dean of UC Irvine School of Law, visits CUNEF Universidad to strengthen international academic ties

CUNEF Universidad welcomed Austen Parrish, Dean and Chancellor’s Professor of Law at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) School of Law, for a visit focused on strengthening academic collaboration between both institutions and expanding international opportunities for students and faculty.

During his stay, Austen Parrish held institutional meetings with Rector Ana I. Fernández, as well as with Adoración Álvaro, Dean of the School of Business, Economics and Law, Andrés Betancor, Director of the Department of Law, and Patricia Enríquez, Director of International Relations, alongside Natalia Rebolledo, a member of her team. The purpose of these meetings was to explore new avenues of academic cooperation, strengthen student exchange programmes and analyse opportunities in both institutions’ LL.M. programmes.

Public international law

The agenda also included several academic activities with students and faculty. During the Research Seminar organised by the Department of Law, Parrish was invited by Professor Lucia Leontiev to lead a session on extraterritoriality and public international law, two issues of growing relevance in an increasingly globalised legal context. Additionally, he gave a class on jurisdiction to CUNEF Universidad law students. 

The visit underscored the close ties between CUNEF Universidad and the University of California, Irvine, further strengthening a collaboration that seeks to promote international mobility, knowledge exchange and joint academic initiatives.
