CUNEF Universidad’s School of Engineering discusses the role of cloud architectures in businesses and industries
22 September 2025
Last Monday, 22 September, 70+ undergraduate CUNEF Universidad students participated in “Triumphs and failures of cloud architectures: corporate and industry uses”, a complementary activity held at Pirineos Campus. This session’s guest speaker was Alejandro Delgado, Principal Public Cloud Architect at IBM, who shared a critical vision of the opportunities and challenges posed by cloud computing models.
During his presentation, Mr Delgado addressed key issues faced by organisations in their adoption processes: choosing the most appropriate model, assigning the right level of responsibility, and defining the different uses and profiles. He also stressed the importance of designing a solid cloud implementation strategy that incorporates not only technological advances, but also decisive elements such as geopolitics, cybersecurity and international regulations.
He also led a discussion with students about the advantages and limitations of companies storing their own data compared to cloud solutions, describing the models of leading providers such as AWS, Microsoft or IBM, and stressing that the decision always depends on each organisation’s specific needs and goals.
The School of Engineering will organise the next complementary activity for its undergraduate students, “Technological Consulting and Cooperation with CUNEF’s Competitive Programming Team”, on Monday, 13 October. The session will feature a presentation by Jorge de Rojas Villavecchia, Business Development Manager at StrateSys.
