CUNEF Universidad shines at the 2026 CFA Research Challenge

The team representing CUNEF Universidad’s Master in Finance took third place in this year’s CFA Institute Research Challenge, one of the most renowned financial analysis academic competitions worldwide. The Spanish final was held at the Madrid Stock Exchange Palace.

In this edition, the challenge was to conduct an in-depth study of the pharmaceutical company Laboratorios Rovi. The students drafted a financial valuation report that included an analysis of the company’s business model, an estimated target price per share and an investment recommendation (buy, hold or sell) presented to a panel made up of pharma industry experts.

Participants had to defend their proposal using the same format as financial analysts in professional contexts, in a final presentation that put their analytical and communication skills to the test.

This year’s edition has been the most competitive to date, with record-high participation: 17 teams from 10 universities and business schools across Spain competed in this prestigious initiative organised by the CFA Institute.

The results achieved by CUNEF Universidad’s team attest to the high level of preparation in financial analysis and business valuation, which enabled our students to excel in a competition that connects academia to the finance industry.
