CUNEF Universidad consolidates its teaching and research project with 47 new professors and a total of 4,900 students
26 September 2025
The start of academic year 2025–2026 has further consolidated CUNEF Universidad’s project for excellence in teaching and research. The institution is now home to 285 professors and 4,900 students enrolled in official undergraduate and graduate degrees and has expanded its specialised academic offering in Business Management and Economics; Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence; Law and Institutions; and Philosophy, Politics and Economics. Worth highlighting among the latest additions is the Minor in Entrepreneurship, which complements the degree offering and integrates key aspects of business creation with the knowledge and experience of leading experts in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
To ensure excellence in its academic offering, CUNEF Universidad has welcomed 47 new members into its faculty this September. Thirty-one of them are full-time professors with an international profile and PhDs from prestigious institutions, such as the London School of Economics (LSE), University of Minnesota, Georgetown University or the University of Mannheim.
Since the start of the AY, CUNEF Universidad has organised several activities aimed at its university community, including a meeting between the Governor of Banco de España, José Luis Escrivá, and students from CUNEF Universidad; a seminar on “The productivity of nations” by Hugo Hopenhayn, a member of the Department of Economics at the University of California (UCLA) and a Visiting Professor at CUNEF Universidad; and another seminar on “The importance of neighbourhoods in intergenerational mobility”, which will be given by David Card, Nobel Prize in Economics, on 29 September.
The seminar series “Thursday Law at CUNEF Universidad” will resume its analysis of current legal issues with the participation of relevant speakers and professionals. On 9 October, it will focus on the transformation of law firms with speakers Jesús Remón, Partner and President of Uría Menéndez, Eduardo García, Managing Partner at Clifford Chance, and Joaquín Jiménez, Managing Partner at Ayuela Jiménez.
The institution has also consolidated its project of excellence in research, which has led it to stand out in relevant scientific publications and obtain grants in competitive, national and international calls.
CUNEF Universidad’s grants in recent years include 17 research projects awarded by the National Plan for Scientific and Technical Research, seven Ramón y Cajal contracts, and three “César Nombela” Grants to Attract Excellent Research Talent, funded by the Regional Government of Madrid, among others. In addition, the University has attracted funding from other international organisations, such as the European Commission and the Government of Canada, and signed agreements with companies and institutions.
CUNEF Universidad’s strategic commitment to research is enhanced every year, reaching 21.3% of turnover in 2024.
Throughout academic year 2025–2026, CUNEF Universidad will also host workshops for national and international researchers. Highlights include the Consortium on Asset Management, organised by the Financial Management Association International (FMA), which will be held at the end of March, and the First Paper Development Workshop on Strategy, which will be held in October in collaboration with the Scientific Association of Economics and Business Management (ACEDE). Also worth mentioning are the Madrid Public Economics (MadPub) and the Madrid Political Economy Workshop (MAPE), organised by CUNEF Universidad in September and attended by more than 100 researchers.
