CUNEF Universidad hosts the 8th edition of the Spanish Macroeconomics Network Workshop, focused on business dynamics and the job market

24 October 2025

The Spanish Macroeconomics Network held its 8th annual workshop at CUNEF Universidad on 23 and 24 October. The workshop featured 34 presentations in 10 parallel sessions, and three keynote lectures by international researchers Antonella Trigari, Bocconi University, Alexander Monge-Naranjo, Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and CEPR, and Hugo Hopenhayn, UCLA and currently a Visiting Professor at CUNEF Universidad.

During his lecture, Professor Monge-Naranjo stressed the importance of adequately allocating workers with different skills to different roles for sustained economic growth. Next, Professor Trigari spoke about how the relationships between different productive sectors in an economy determine the impact of sectoral shocks on aggregate unemployment. Finally, Professor Hopenhayn addressed the relationship between population growth and the dynamics of company creation and destruction.

The Spanish Macroeconomics Network, an initiative led by a group of macroeconomics researchers in Spain, aims to create synergies between participants and enhance research in this field in our country.
