Cabify asks CUNEF Universidad students for strategies to address tech challenges in autonomous mobility

11 February 2026

Last Wednesday, 11 February, the School of Engineering hosted the presentation of the ‘Business Case Competition by Cabify’, structured around the future of cities and the foreseeable impact of autonomous transport technology. Cabify, a Spanish mobility company, asked CUNEF Universidad students to come up with strategies focusing on the business itself, value generation and the role of future regulations. The challenge is the central element of the 17th edition of this academic competition, in which leading companies and institutions give students a closer look at corporate reality by asking them to solve actual problems.

The first strategic issue that students must address is deciding how Cabify should position itself in the new context of autonomous mobility. In this sense, participating teams will have to analyse the technological options available, the role of software and hardware providers, the relationship with manufacturers, and the impact on operational efficiency, to design a competitive and sustainable long-term strategy.

In terms of business aspects and value generation, students are required to detail how they would ensure that cost efficiencies can be maintained in Cabify’s agreements with tech partners, what type of partnerships the company should establish, and how they should differentiate their offer so that users continue to choose their services. Students must also consider the regulatory framework, liability in accidents, and the role played by institutions and companies in balancing innovation, ethics and social peace.

The registration deadline for the ‘Business Case Competition by Cabify’ is next Sunday, 15 February. Participating teams must submit their proposals before 20 February at 11 p.m. The panel, made up of CUNEF Universidad professors, will announce the finalist teams on 22 February. On 25 February, in the closing ceremony, the finalist teams will present their proposals to the panel, whose members will choose the winners and award the corresponding prizes.

The case was presented by the following Cabify representatives: Raúl Marín, VP  of Strategic Partnerships, César Lázaro, Head of Autonomous Mobility, and Marta Martínez, Talent Acquisition Analyst.
