Biography
Juan Jose Rivas Moreno is a Lecturer in the Department of Economics at CUNEF Universidad. He received his PhD from the Department of Economic History at LSE in 2023. Prior to joining CUNEF Universidad, he was awarded the Economic History Society (UK) Power Fellowship (2023–2024) and a Max Weber Fellowship at the European University Institute (2024–2025). He was also a short-term fellow at the Newberry Library of Chicago. His doctoral thesis was awarded the Coleman Prize 2024 by the Association of Business Historians, and it has been published by Palgrave Macmillan in the Economic History series under the title The Capital Market of Manila and the Pacific Trade, 1668-1838: Institutions and Trade during the First Globalization.
