BIO
PhD in Economic History from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (Cum Laude), Professor Ortiz started his career in research and teaching at Sciences Po (Fondation des Sciences Politiques) between 2015 and 2019, and then worked at the University of Sussex from 2020 to 2022.
Specializing in financial markets and financial history, his articles have studied the effects of various non-economic events on company value and price volatility in the Paris Stock Exchange at the end of the 19th century. His extensive work with primary sources earned him an Excellent Cum Laude on his thesis dissertation.
His articles have been published in journals such as the Financial History Review and Entreprises et Histoire. He has participated in numerous conferences and research events, such as the Economic History Society, European Historical Economics Society, World Economic History Congress and the Association Française de Science Économique.
